The 8th ONVIF Developer’s Plugfest was taken place in Mogliano Veneto, Italy from 4th to 6th March. More than 61 senior technical experts from 28 world’s state-of-art IP-based manufacturers attended this testing gala.

The significance of ONVIF Platform is self-evident, especially in this IP surveillance era. While focusing on the interoperability, one feature valued most, this Plugfest also serves as a trustful platform, where manufacturers all over the world can freely and effectively have exchanges on the views and technological problems to better understand ONVIF protocol and implement on products, as to better serve customers.

Dahua technology, as a renowned manufacturer in video technology and full member of ONVIF, being excatly aware of the importance of interoperability, has devoted itself to this filed in recent years, surely would not miss this great opportunity. Dahua, taking both roles as the Device and Client vender, the company dispatched four-head team to attend the meeting. What worth a special mention is that Dahua is one of the few venders who are capable to bring NVR solution to this testing gala. Dahua NVR supports full ONVIF functions, supporting comprehensive interoperable testing with IPCs.

The plugfest splits into two parts, pear-to-pear testing and user scenario testing, the former one gives testers full space to inter-test with one another, while the latter.

simulates the real operation environment, allowing testers to be aware of the working condition of their product, which is very practical for daily use. During the three-day plugfesting, Dahua Team, including Device end and Client end, successfully inter-tested with all attending companies, such as Axis, Bosch, Canon, Sony, AxxonSoft, Exacq, Genetec, Milestone and many other leading international corporations.

Upon testing and exchanges, some of Dahua product features are impressed by testing peers, for example, Dahua IPCs has integrated video analysis, which is rare; and some UI design also wins positive feedback. Meanwhile, Dahua Team spotted some existing software bugs, and later had some dig on the causes, having a comprehensive and in-depth analysis, to get the bugs removed and make the products of various main-stream manufactures working well along with one another. “As the chairman Takahiro Iwasaki put it, I agree that the Plugfest is an exceptional open platform, on which, engineers who are impossible to get together and have a face-to-face test on ordinary days, can finally sit together and work on the interoperability. Meanwhile, the three-day testing is also a great opportunity for venders to learn from each other. Dahua renewed partnerships with some of attending manufactures and exchanged views on the technology and the trend,” commented James Wang, Product Director at Dahua Technology.

Attending this Plugfest shows the resolution Dahua holds that to be deeply involved in the internationalized standard, and with its more interoperable and flexible IP products that conform to ONVIF, customers will surely benefit more in choosing Dahua products.
